"I have been doing Pilates with Kate for more than two and a half years. Her classes are very well structured and she changes the programme of exercises every six weeks, so you don't get bored. Each programme works all parts of the body. Classes are not competitive and Kate is very empathetic, making sure that you do the correct level of exercise for your ability.
Before starting the classes, I used to see an osteopath every 6 weeks, to keep my back and neck flexible. I haven't needed to do so for over 2 years and my back and core muscles have been considerably strengthened. I used to be unable to travel by car for more than an hour without stopping to stretch and exercise. I can now travel for 2 or 3 hours without any discomfort. Ev “One of the things that impresses me most about Kate is her attention to personal detail. She remembers everyone's needs and will give specific advice during exercises about who should stay with the lower stage moves and who is ready to try greater challenges, as well as making sure we are all moving safely by correcting our positions if necessary- and all without interrupting the flow of the class.
Kate has a lovely manner with everyone and a great sense of humour, and her classes make you feel as if you're amongst good friends. I always leave feeling hugely better than when I went in. Aside from the health benefits, Pilates is both fun and relaxing. Kate is a brilliant teacher: attentive, patient, gentle, encouraging and fun. She is able to work with the different abilities and fitness levels in the class, progressing the exercises for those of us who have been coming for a while and making sure they are appropriate for those new to Pilates. "As a 40-something male with a family and a busy job, regular exercise was something I was struggling to get around to. A few years ago, I tried Pilates at one of Kate's classes in Lancaster and have been going ever since.
I think I like Kate's classes so much because I always feel so much better after the session and, over time, I have noticed a real improvement to my physical health, core strength and flexibility. But also, somehow I leave the stresses of a busy day on the mat in the class; it is an excellent way to de-stress. Kate creates a warm atmosphere-we have a laugh, and even when I am the only male at a class-I don't feel uncomfortable. Kate caters for individual needs and I can push myself as far as I want to.
